Orpheus Island Resort is committed to sustainability in all aspects of its operations. To minimize waste, the resort provides reusable drink bottles and keep cups, has removed single-use plastics in-room amenities, and uses eWater instead of harsh cleaning chemicals. The resort also works to eradicate harmful species and replant lost plant species, and hosts Deep Dive, an annual event to share best practices in reef preservation.
To reduce its environmental impact, Orpheus Island Resort is primarily solar-powered, recycles and diverts food waste, and uses a water treatment plant to recycle water for irrigation. The resort also offsets the carbon emissions of helicopter flights to the island and works with local suppliers to source local, organic, free range, fair trade, biodynamic, and sustainably-farmed produce and products.
Orpheus Island, off the coast of Queensland, is a secluded tropical sanctuary framed by the Great Barrier Reef and rugged national park. Pristine bays, coral gardens, and fringing reefs surround the island, while eucalyptus-clad hills and sandy coves create a rich and varied landscape. This unique geography offers guests a deep sense of place, where luxury meets nature in one of Australia’s most untouched and breathtaking island environments.
