Bedarra Island Resort is deeply committed to preserving its pristine natural environment through meaningful, measurable sustainability efforts. The resort operates off-grid with a hybrid solar system, significantly reducing diesel use. Freshwater is sourced from island springs and rainwater, eliminating the need for desalination. Waste is minimised through composting, recycling, and a glass-to-sand converter used in landscaping. With reduced villa numbers and upgraded infrastructure, Bedarra ensures luxury hospitality while protecting the delicate ecosystem of the Great Barrier Reef.
Bedarra Island Resort is set on a lush 100-hectare island within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, just 10 kilometres offshore from Mission Beach. Located between Cairns and Townsville in North Queensland, the island is accessible by launch or helicopter from Mission Beach, or directly by helicopter from Cairns Airport. Mission Beach is a scenic two-hour drive south of Cairns.
